OH YEAH!!!!!!!

MAY 29 2011

First rough footage of my trailer for my indie feature, THE DRIFTER...done.
More to come. Much more.

Rough edit done.
Was ecstatic with the process of getting footage out of my brain and on the screen and doing some actual editing.

Was not happy with results.
All my fault.

Haven't been on top of the detailed storyboards I need to do.
And I truly believe that when you're doing a project like pre pro for an indie feature, you need to do all the work up front to find mistakes, etc. Find ways to correct those mistakes when it's just you.

Haven't even casted yet.

So it's about the shot choice, then the composition of space in the shot.
The more I draw it out, I'm editing it at the same time.
The money just isn't there to shoot coverage, because the money's not there to get actual film permits and pay a cast and crew.

So, it's me and my DP.

Get enough stuff down on paper to shoot that has nothing to do with dialogue scenes,
but are going to make the trailer really take off, and do a rough edit with that footage with
obvious blank shots in between where the acting dialogue shots are going to go.

A lot and then some...what the --

There's a lot of...STUFF...to be put down.
But it's also a blank canvas with no holding back.
Some clips of my experimental multi media.
First trailer for an indie feature project, since
film school.

As many art samples as possible.
Eventually a spot for some short stories.
news articles...some op - eds.
Or links to a website for more of this.

It's all about creativity.

Staying open...letting go of so much crap
and realizing that in this digital world
everything is possible.
Always.
All ways.

This digital world has been scaring the status quo
for a long time.
And it's going to get worst.
I've mentioned these ops at countless sites
and forums or the past year.
The digital world is not only made for people
who love to create...but it's extremely successful
for those same creators who also want to be hands on
and personally responsible for their success.

If there's one thing from this beginning you'll want to
remember, it's this much...and it says it all:

The audience, your fans, people are -- global.

Forget everything else you've ever learned;
been taught...and tear down the doors.

Write on, right on.

NEW BEGINNINGS, AGAIN

Starting up.
Again.
It's all good.
Boundaries are meant to be crossed.
Just...
